Single-threaded leadership didn’t work

At least in the beginning.

Amazon had a problem: Projects were taking too long because teams got entangled.

Dependencies slowed down progress.

It was clear to Amazon that they needed to untangle.

Hence, the Amazon leadership principle of single-threaded leadership was born.

Only a principle isn’t a solution. A solution is a solution.

Amazon knew that, but what they implemented didn’t work!

It didn’t work until they realized the existing options weren’t good enough. They had to create a new way, especially in developing and delivering software.

Once they put in the hard work to invent a new solution to their specific problem, they were able to come up with a solution that worked.

And that is now the industry standard.

Sometimes, options A, B, and C won’t work for you. So you need to invent the D, or the A+, or the A-B.
