ML is the Javascript of 2018
In 2018, there was a new framework for JS every single day. Are we still using jQuery? Or is it Typescript now? There was such a thing called Angular, and people would use plain vanilla Javascript.
It sure feels a lot like the machine learning and AI world right now.
The problem is, in 2018, teams betting on plain vanilla would bet on the losing side and would need to uproot everything in 2020. Being inside a standard war isn’t fun for anyone but the winning side.
There are no best practices emerging because they are tied to standards and technology.
Watch out, and stay vigilant if you don’t want to end up on the losing side.
