Generative AI changes the game
120 minutes. That’s all it took for me to create a complete React App, deployment and all.
But, it wasn’t really me, it was my alter ego, Claude that did all the hard work. Together, like a cyborg, Claude and I created www.memealchemist.com a completely AI powered Meme generator I’m using on this very blog (which I think is only fair since I create both the content and the generator).
FWIW: Does anyone else see the irony in having AI create AI apps?
Let me tell you what Claude did:
Claude wrote almost all of the React code and allowed me to preview how it renders and works inside its interface.
Claude helped me write API endpoints using n8n, providing the JSON workflow and then troubleshooting problems with me as the API and the front end integrated.
Claude created a GitHub DevContainer with me and all of the necessary project files.
Claude suggested I use Vercel to deploy the application, and guided me through the process of setting things up.
Claude suggested the domain name.
Claude ran out of capacity even though I’m on the Pro plan ;) (programming is heavy lifting, after all)
and Midjourney creates a beautiful logo
I haven’t written any functional React code before. I have never used Vercel or n8n before. But within 120 minutes, I got a working application out there for you to use. That feels like a different game than the one we were playing yesterday. It is a different game than almost any company plays in today, but it’s here.
