It is not just the fact that data is complex but also the fact that all activities, data science, machine learning, and BI lie in what’s called the complex realm.
Now, for whatever reason, everyone wants to dumb down data. That’s why we have default dashboards and why analysts build simple charts.
They try to make analyzing data simple.
But it simply isn’t.
And when you try to make something simple that inherently isn’t, you dumb it down.
And then, all dashboards end up lying.
But the data world isn’t lost. Of course, there is a way out of this, and that way goes like this:
We embrace the inherent complexity of all data-related activities.
We embrace the idea of deep analysis.
We embrace the idea that we can still simplify parts of an activity by increasing the overall complexity.
There’s no way out of complexity.
