Amazon auto-buy
I believe the final destination of every machine learning system, every recommendation engine, and every data science initiative should be the auto-play.
We humans use data to inform decisions and then take action.
We browse through Amazon recommendations to then make a buying decision and actually buy something.
We view dashboards to decide on a good customer set to sell to and then actually sell something to them.
However, the value of all of this data, information, and even decisions is realized only once we take action.
Humans have a bias for inaction unless threatened by a saber-toothed tiger.
That makes the auto-play functionality so powerful. Yes, sometimes it is annoying, but I’ve never tried to switch it off in my Netflix account.
I’m still waiting for the auto-buy functionality from Amazon, though I have no doubt it will come.
